  1. First Roger Moore and now Adam West. I did wonder if you would do a Batman Top Ten and of course you did, and damn quick off the mark may I say - You must have had a Batmobile at the ready.

    1. This one didn't really take that much work!

  2. May I suggest REM's "Winged Mammal Theme" too? Extra track on the Drive CD single, I think.

    1. I almost featured that... along with Batdance... but decided to stick to the original, not complete reworkings.

  3. 'They may be drinkers Robin, but they're still human beings. To the Batmobile.......'
I know I keep saying it, but this really is another piece of my childhood gone. RIP Adam.

Yes, RIP Adam West, very much a part of my childhood, there was no other Batman for me. Wish I still had my Batman & Robin mug, my sister and I had one each - why don't we keep these things?! I would toast a tribute to him from it alongside your perfect goodbye.

    1. Because we don't realise how valuable they are at the time: only years later.

  5. I'm afraid I had to wait a couple of decades before I could truly appreciate the campiness of Adam West's portrayal of Batman. It seems he was a bright and interesting man, forever typecast as one of the great caped crusaders.

It's a tie between the Ventures and Link Wray for me.

    1. Unlike certain other actors who suffered from typecasting after a role like that, he never seemed to complain about it.

  6. Great set of comments add to what is a fine and apt tribute; I hadn't realised there were quite so many versions of the theme tune out there.

This news, and that of the sad passing of John Noakes a short time ago, really has taken away important pieces of my childhood. I love your observation on how Adam West dealt with being in a role that he could just never escape.
